Common Reasons for a Declined Status
- Alternative Income Detected: SASSA found an incoming cash flow into your bank account exceeding R624 in the preceding month.
- Identity Verification Failed: Your details do not match the Department of Home Affairs database.
- Debtor / UIF Registered: You are already receiving UIF payments or NSFAS funding.
How to Fix and Appeal
If you believe the decision was made in error, you have 30 days to lodge an appeal with the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA).
