SASSA Reapplication Guide
If you previously cancelled your grant or need to re-apply after a prolonged period of disqualification, follow this updated tutorial to get back on the SRD payroll.
CRITICAL: Do you have an active appeal?
If you have recently lodged an appeal with the Independent Tribunal (ITSAA) for wrongfully declined months, do NOT reapply. Submitting a new application will automatically cancel your ongoing appeal and forfeit your right to any backpay. Only reapply if you have no pending appeals.
Before You Start
Ensure you meet the strict criteria for the current SRD R370 cycle.
Residency
You must be a verified South African Citizen, Permanent Resident, or registered Asylum Seeker.
Age Bracket
You must be between 18 and 59 years old. Seniors qualify for the Older Persons Grant instead.
Financial Distress
You must have absolutely no income, or an income of less than R628 per month across all your bank accounts.
Step-by-Step Reapplication
Access the SRD Portal
Navigate to the official srd.sassa.gov.za website. Scroll down to the "South African ID Holders" section and click the yellow button that says "Click here to apply online".
Verify Mobile Number
Enter your mobile number. SASSA will send a 6-digit OTP (One Time Pin) to your phone. Enter this pin to securely log into your profile.
Accept the Legal Declaration
You must read and agree to the Declaration and Consent documents. By agreeing, you authorize SASSA to scan your bank accounts and check your details with SARS and Home Affairs.
Submit Banking & Financials
Fill out the questionnaire regarding your employment status. Finally, provide your banking details where you wish the grant to be deposited.
Submit & Wait
Submit the application. You will receive an SMS confirming receipt. It usually takes between 7 to 14 days for the initial verification to conclude.
