SASSA Reapplication Guide

Updated Tutorial
Takes 15 Minutes

If you previously cancelled your grant or need to re-apply after a prolonged period of disqualification, follow this updated tutorial to get back on the SRD payroll.

CRITICAL: Do you have an active appeal?

If you have recently lodged an appeal with the Independent Tribunal (ITSAA) for wrongfully declined months, do NOT reapply. Submitting a new application will automatically cancel your ongoing appeal and forfeit your right to any backpay. Only reapply if you have no pending appeals.

Ensure you meet the strict criteria for the current SRD R370 cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a reapplication take to process?

It typically takes 7 to 14 working days for SASSA to run your new application through their means test (checking Home Affairs, UIF, and SARS).

Will I receive backpay for the months I was disqualified?

No. Reapplying creates a brand new application record. You will only be paid from the month your new application is approved. To claim backpay for wrongfully declined months, you must use the appeal process instead.
